Palmtop Sport News Application Prototype
Introduction
This page presents a prototype created by means of DHTML. It does not describe
how the work was done, because I don't know that ;-) The prototype
has been created as a part of assignment in the course Human-Computer
Interaction at the Linkopings Universitet,
Sweden, in the spring semester 2002.
Prototype
If you have Internet Explorer :-( you can see the prototype (I suggest you to read the implementation description below first).
If you have Netscape or something else you can see it too, but surely it
will look differently than it's supposed to.
Description:
-
Task: sport news presentation application; assume that a reliable fast
connection to the network is available. There are two kind of new - annoucements
about future matches ('upcomings') and results of matches that are just
in progress or have already finished.
-
Implementation: the following features have been implemented (keep in mind
that we prototype the user interface; the service itself is not prototyped)
-
special interaction features: user can perform 'back' and 'forward' action
in addition to pressing the appropriate button, simply by pressing the
left mouse button and 'drawing a line' to the left (back) or right (forward).
In the prototype we use mouse, in the final product it would be replaced
by a pen. Similar functionality is available for scrolling.
-
notification: user can subscribe to receive a notification when results
of a match arrives (check the checkbox next to the match annoucement in
'upcomings'.
-
Notes: most of the links do not work, only few ways through the interface
does work, for it was sufficient for the prototype. For instance the menu
works only on the result page, but its search function is not implemented
at all. Regarding links, the first one on the main page is OK.
See: the style.css and script.js as text files.

The prototype has been implemented by my friends Dirk Vollmar and Waldek
Basiak.
